Why Acreage Is a Magnet for These Three
Fire ants build mounds in sunny, well-drained spots, especially where mowed lawn meets a tree line. Ticks and fleas ride in on wildlife and dogs, then set up in tall grass and brush.
The Part That Actually Works: Tight Borders
A tight, consistently mowed border between the lawn and the wild edges takes away the ambush zone. I treat active mounds and the brushy perimeter as a standing service, not a once-a-year spray.
What You Can Do Between Visits
Keep brush piles away from the house. Treat pets on a schedule. If you spot a fresh fire ant mound, do not disturb it — tell me and I will hit it. If your property backs up to woods on the Walker–Denham–Watson corridor, it is cheaper to stay ahead of this than to wait on a tick bite.
